Online play is pissing me off so bad

Online game play in North America is fucking horrible, how can you have green bar when there's 2-3 frames lag. Especially when you play against Zangief, his jump fierce can just own you because you can't anti air properly. Or i can't jump up straight to dodge fireballs...missing links...just DUMB. I really hope the connection improves somehow...i mean when asia can have no lag vs no lag, i am sure we can do the same here.
I don't see a point playing online right now...recently i've been only playing for 30 mins every 2 days...

Anyways, Happy Halloween everybody, don't get arrested~

  1. I fucking hate online. The only useful thing you can learn online here is character match-ups. And even then, it's hard to punish/react to certain things in specific match-ups with the added 2-3 frames of lag.

Yeah no, we can't have absolute lag-free matches here. The US internet infrastructure is better than Canada's, and Japan's network makes the US netplay look like shit. So yeah... no. Not yet anyway.

    Happy Halloween!

  2. It sucks. Even against local players I can feel a frame or two of input lag. We're not going to have lagless online any time soon.

  5. yeah i gave up trying to play online, but ends up playing every few days because i miss the competition. it's really too bad because it's such a great opportunity that just gets thrown away because online play is retarded.

  6. hey man , can u play with Japan from Canada(what's the connection)? cuz im thinking about gettin' x360 (im from Europe) and i want to play ranked's with Japan , what do u think it is possible even to connect , cuz on PSN when i connect to Japanese player there was only 1 bar but ya know xlive > PSN.

  7. @jestips sorry man, trust me, no matter what connection you get, there's gonna be lag against players in Japan. AND even if you can get some kinda yellow bar connection, THEY WILL kick u out coz inside Japan it's all green bar with no lag, they won't even try and play yellow bar

  8. XBL isn't any better than PSN. People who say it is are only saying it because of buyer's remorse. They're paying for XBL so they try to justify it by saying PSN's connection is worse, when it all boils down to your own home's connection. The only reason why all the top players are playing on 360 is because the PS3 version has a frame of input lag.

  9. XBL and PSN is exactly the same from what I've seen.
As for playing with Japanese players.... I get yellow bars with them but once the game starts, there's almost no lag at all, much better than some of the connections I get from NA. I think most fighting game enthusiasts these days are too poor to put out 30 bucks a month for a decent internet =/

  13. So how do u think GamerBee plays with Japan? He's from Taiwan , how he's gettin' good connection?

  14. Taiwan's got really good internet and it's not that far from Japan. Europe is all the way on the other side of the world; there's no way you're getting anything but 1 bar connections at best.

  15. @jestips Taiwan has really good connection. Playing majority of the Taiwanese= No lag, however, somehow when i play Gamerbee, there is slight lag..maybe cause i live in a dorm, sharing a modem with like...50 ppl.

  16. Japan uses fiber optics for their internet and only select parts of North America are using Fiber. From back in my telecom days the biggest issue in Canada or at least Alberta and B.C. is getting fiber to the home. It's like one part getting the city to stomach the costs to getting the fiber infrastructure put in place and then one part the isp being able to provide fiber services to the house. Older houses and apartments are just a nightmare because you have to gut the existing cabling and replace it with fiber, which is very costly and time consuming. I don't know how Japan managed to pull this off but North America needs to do the same.

  17. Sadly, Air, that's how our networks work in America. It's very unfortunate, because we pay such a high price, for such mediocre internet. The Cell Phone market is the same way. It'll get better in the next two years though, as new emerging businesses and technologies expand the market, and force prices down as well as forcing up the quality.

  18. O well, i mean if would b satisfied if i started playing ssf4 online IN NA. But too bad i started in Japan, connection was way too good to believe..

  19. I can't blame you, that's the price we have for our internet in the states. My friend lives in Canada and on PSN it shows us having a "green" connection, but it's like you said, it feels like theres a 2 or 3 frame lag, so we have no choice but to adjust.

At least it's still better than what I get if I play against people on the west coast, it's worse. I hope down the road the entire US gets fiber optic for online.
